Welcome Back Loggers!
The December edition is shorter than normal, given we had 2 fewer weeks of school and activities.
I would like to showcase a new district program named OWL. The OWL program is an adult to student mentorship program. Mentors are community members that are paired with a student having similar interests and hobbies. Mentors receive training from the district, then once a week for 30 or so minutes, they hang out with mentor students at school. It is simply a fun way for an adult to be a positive role model in a child’s life. If you or someone that you know wants to make a difference, or maybe needs more information, please contact Casey Peters at cpeters@onysd.wednet.edu, or call the school.
On December 20, staff and students took the day off, so to speak, to engage in a variety of fun activities including cookie decorating, movies, and games. Everyone had been working hard this year and we felt a day off was well deserved. It was also an early release day at 1:00 pm.
School resumed today, January 6, 2025. I hope you had an opportunity to watch some Logger basketball or wrestling matches over break. Our athletes are competing well and working hard.
Thank you to everyone for all of the support you have shown the Onalaska School District and especially the high school. We have an amazing staff and a terrific group of students. Thank you and I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
