About Onalaska

Onalaska is a small community located in Lewis County, Washington. Established in 1924, there is a long history of the school district providing strong educational opportunities for the community. From its early days as a logging community, it is seeing a transformation in farming, nurseries, and other growth as businesses see a potential market.

The first public high school in Onalaska, Washington was founded in January 1890. The original building burned down in 1895, and a new building was constructed the following year. However, another fire destroyed the new building in 1924, forcing students to move to the former La Crosse County School of Agriculture site. A new building was built in 1970 to accommodate the growing number of students. Since that time, the Onalaska School District strives to ensure that every student and staff member learns and grows through a culture of continuous collaboration, while valuing both relationships and results.
