Our Vision
Onalaska School District students are uniquely talented learners who realize their potential through engaging in personal inquiry and growth, social responsibility, and academic and career excellence.
Our Mission
The mission of the Onalaska School District Counseling Program is to provide a proactive, comprehensive, and developmentally appropriate program to address students' academic and career goals in addition to supporting their personal and social needs. This is accomplished through a partnership with parents/guardians, staff, and community members to enable all students to become successful, productive, contributing citizens and lifelong learners in a diverse and changing world.
Our Unified Beliefs
We believe:
● Every student can learn and succeed.
● Every student should have access to an opportunity for high-quality education.
● Every student should graduate from high school prepared for post-secondary opportunities.
● Every student should have access to a school counseling program.
● Effective school counseling is a collaborative process involving school counselors, students, families, teachers, administrators, other school staff, and education stakeholders.
● School counselors are leaders in the school, district, state, and nation.
● School counseling programs promote and enhance student academic, career, and social/emotional outcomes.
● Through a rigorous, caring environment, students will become enthusiastic, lifelong learners.
● All students should have the opportunity to achieve success at their highest individual potential.
● Students learn most effectively when they are active in their own learning.
● Clear goals and high expectations increase whole-child wellness.
● Our counseling curriculum should challenge each student to fully develop his/her intellectual, career, and personal/social abilities.
