SENIOR AWARD TOTALS – Turn in NOW to be included!!!
SENIORS – If you received any merit scholarships, trade scholarships, or college financial awards or other financial aid, (not including Federal grants), and you haven’t turned in your total dollars awarded to Ms. Baker yet get them in right away to have them in the 2025 Senior Class Award Total. The Class of 2025 is currently at $726,958.00 scholarships and financial awards earned!!! Let’s keep growing that total!!
SAT SUMMER TESTING – available off-campus August 2025
Taking the SAT is a vital step in the college application process—even if you plan to apply to colleges that are test-optional—and worthy of careful planning. It’s offered on a Weekend seven times yearly, in March, May, June, August, October, November, and December. Your school may also offer the SAT on a School Day—check with your school counselor. Students appreciate this option for comfort, familiarity, and timing.
The key is to stay informed, plan ahead, and select the dates that align best with your academic and personal schedule. Generally, you should take it in the spring of your junior year and consider retaking it in the Fall of your senior year based on your score and growth goals.
Whether you’re taking it in school on a school day, or at a test center on the weekend, be sure to factor in the test date, seat availability, personal commitments, prep time, and college application deadlines. If you’re taking it on the weekend, register early, especially if you have a preferred test center, to avoid the rush and potential extra fees.

SAT Weekend
The SAT is offered globally seven times each year, in March, May, June, August, October, November, and December, usually on a Saturday. See the current SAT test date schedule for the exact dates.
We recommend taking the SAT for the first time in the spring of your junior year and again in the Fall of your senior year before college application deadlines. Most students who retake the SAT raise their scores, and some take it more times. There is no obligation to share your score with schools, so you have nothing to lose by taking it.
OHS will be offering the SAT and the PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test - for juniors), in the fall of the 2025-2026 school year. More information, including testing dates and schedules, will be posted as soon as they become available.
VARSITY TUTORS – Ongoing
The Varsity Tutors Platform gives students more opportunities to learn at their own pace. 24/7 on-demand chat tutoring and on-demand essay review are live tutoring resources to help your student with any questions about homework, classwork, or test prep. Live group classes, recorded classes, and celebrity-led StarCourses allow your student to learn more about the subjects they’re interested in and add a touch of fun. Assessments and self-study practice problems provide opportunities to drill skills towards mastery. And college prep & admissions resources ensure that your student has the best resources available to secure their future.
Students will log into their account by going to the Varsity Tutors website and using their OHS email and password. This is being offered to students in grades 9-12. Students can gain access to the program through the company’s website at https://www.varsitytutors.com/login using their school email address. PEERBOOKS AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING – Concluded for 2025
Peerbooks Tutoring is no longer available on Wednesdays, for the remainder of the school year. This program will start back up in the fall.
COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS REVIEW – schedule now
JUNIORS - Now is the time to start scheduling your college and career readiness review with Ms. Baker so you can hit the ground running at the start of your senior year. You can also get started on your FSA ID, so you are ready when the FAFSA opens in December. If you need info on colleges, trade schools or programs, scholarships, career paths, or even tips on keeping organized, she can help. Happy almost summertime! We’ve now entered a critical time in the year for students to apply for additional scholarships. Rising high school seniors will soon enter the world of college applications, but this summer, they have valuable free time to search for funding opportunities before their schoolwork begins again in the fall. LAEL’S MOON GARDEN NURSERY – Apply Now
Lael's Moon Garden Nursery is looking for summer help with weeding, watering and other tasks around the nursery. Basic plant knowledge is a bonus but not required. Hours are Thursday through Monday, 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, but may be negotiable in certain circumstances, sick/personal time accrual, pay DOQ. This is a great job for a high school student. WASHINGTON TRANSPORTATION SUMMER CAMP – Apply Now
A free one-week residential program designed to introduce HS students to various transportation topics, including urban planning, traffic safety, supply chain logistics, and connected and autonomous vehicles. Students who are interested in receiving information regarding the US Army National Guard can come to the College & Career Center during lunch to sign up to meet with a recruiter. Students who are under the age of 18 MUST have parent permission. Appointments will only be made before or after school, during lunch, or off campus in the evening or on a weekend with a parent attending if you are under 18. Students cannot schedule appointments during class time.
