Dear Students and Parents,

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter officially beginning the start of the 2018-19 school year. I am honored to begin my second year as principal at the high school where I graduated from and that has such long lasting traditions. I am excited and eager to continue the work that was started last school year.

The teachers, staff and I will work hard to continue the legacy of success established by OHS; by building strong relationships with parents, students and community partners. We will continue to focus on character education initiatives, the use of data to drive instruction, and provide consistent implementation of the curriculum in a rigorous manner in order to continue to increase student achievement. The goal is to provide academic experiences that are rigorous, relevant, and help build relationships while making real-world connections.

Although academic success is key, I continue to encourage students to be involved in school activities that will better prepare them for success after high school and create lasting memories. It is important that each student find a sport, activity, club, and/or service area of interest that allows for participation in our school community.

On Wednesday, August 29th we will have our Back to School Night for all High School Students and their families. The event will begin at 5:30 pm with a BBQ and end at 7:00 pm. At this time you will receive all the information needed to make the 2018-19 school year a successful and fun year both academically and socially! We will have Freshman Orientation activities, hand-out schedules, complete locker assignments and parking passes, ASB card purchases, Picture Day information, and Yearbook forms. If you are unable to attend the Back to School Night, you can stop by the High School office on the 30th from 1-3 pm to receive the above listed information.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Best Regards,

Dracy McCoy

You will hear staff and students talk about The ONY Way. The ONY Way is a set of five traits that we hope students will learn and instill while at school and in the community. The five traits are:

GRIT - To have courage and resolve; strength of character

PASSION - To approach life with a compelling enthusiasm

VISION - The ability to plan for the future with imagination and wisdom

FAMILY - All students are part of the Onalaska family. We will accept each other for our differences, strengths and weaknesses

SERVICE - The action of helping someone without the need for anything in return.

These traits are important life qualities that every person needs to be a successful adult.

As a parent/guardian and community member, please help support

The ONY Way!
