About me:
I have been teaching at Onalaska High School since 1991. Originally from Auburn, I started my teaching career in Lewis County at W.F. West High School in Chehalis after graduating from Washington State University. After five years I "dropped out" to raise my three daughters and work for my husband in his veterinary practice, South Fork Veterinary Service. Before returning full time to teaching, I worked at Centralia College for two years as the Student Support Services Writing Coordinator. I earned my Master's Degree in Literacy Education from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
In 2005 I was able to start a German American Partnership Program (GAPP) between Onalaska High School and Markgraefin-Wilhelmine Gymnasium in Bayreuth, Bavaria, Germany. We partnered first with Napavine High School and then this year with Toledo High School. Our exchange has enabled dozens of German and American students to experience family life, school, and travel abroad and make practical use of the language they have learned in the classroom. The next trip to Germany is being planned for summer, 2016.
I have also coached Knowledge Bowl for many years.  Our senior team has earned its way to State, placing 6th and 8th the past two years.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family, horseback riding, traveling abroad, gardening, bicycling, skiing, sailing, writing poetry, and, of course, reading. Since 1997, my family has hosted 18 exchange students from around the world.
